 ISDN Network Line
Status Tool Overview

This
tool was created following discussion with CallHandler users about the
problems they sometimes have with their Telecom Network Service Provider. They
are generally not Telecommunications experts and therefore found it difficult
to know exactly:
When a
line problem occurred
What
the status was of the fault
How
often a fault occurred
Have
evidence that they could use to prove to the Network Service Provider that they
had a fault
These
needs led us to create the Line Status Tool, which can be simply used to:
Monitor the status of the E1/T1 line at a low level using a browser based
graphical E1/T1 ISDN Line Status Indicator display
Send
alerts when these low level alerts occur vai a pop-up window alerting
system
Create
time-stamped log files that can be used as evidence in discussions with Network
Service Providers using a text based time-stamped log which can be printed out
or loaded into a spreadsheet for analysiss
All
this can be achieved with little or no knowledge of Communications protocols,
or technology even though the type of information is at a detailed technical
level. The Line Status Tool consists of a low-level CallHandler software
module that can be activated by the equipment operator.
