CallHandler Origins

We have established a reputation for delivering high value, premium performance products as well as a focused global customer technical support.

A Fresh Approach.... The CallHandler core technology was conceived at a time when systems were nearly all Unix based. These tended to suffer from the following limitations:

  • be hard to program because of limited use of Rapid Development Environments
  • limited access from other computer platforms, especially Microsoft Windows systems, on a world-wide basis
  • needed UNIX specialists to maintain installations, which generally meant end users could not do this and were very dependent on the suppliers
  • difficult to operate by end users because of non-graphical interfaces
  • Line density was relatively low per chassis
  • hardware tended to have limited functionality so multi-function solutions required equipment from a variety of suppliers, which resulted in a deterioration of the support responsiveness
  • tended to be very expensive per line
  • The whole industry was cloaked in Jargon which made it very difficult for new users to clearly understand what the technology could offer their business

Dedicated.... to providing a fresh approach to this market, Chelston developed a solution which overcame these basic limitations. Two key elements were chosen to make this possible:

  • Aculab's multi-function Telephony Card (Prosody), which offered very high functionality in a compact, affordable solution
  • Microsoft Windows 2000 which is now a very stable Industry Standard offering, Rapid Development environments - such as Visual BASIC, graphical interface for both maintenance and ongoing management, world-wide connectivity for all types of solutions and a very wide support for both telephony and PC hardware and modular application software.
The first product.... which Chelston developed was CallHandler-240, which at the time was the worlds first 240 line system running under MS Windows 2000, using the Aculab Prosody card. This has been further developed to a 2,400 line capacity per chassis, and many tens of thousands of line capability using clustering technology.

In Summary.... CallHandler embodies the following design principles:
  • Maximum performance and reliability from a system
  • Uses Industry Standard hardware and software providing 'future proof' solutions
  • Hardware and Software modularity for total configurability and short time to market
  • Built in local and remote diagnostics for system maintenance and performance criteria analysis
  • Uses the minimum number of component suppliers
  • World-wide connectivity
  • Complete, well supported solutions

CallHandler.... is for businesses that want to integrate voice, fax, data and networking on one scalable, cost-effective platform, merged with standard PC technology such as the web, databases, graphical user interfaces, and more. Currently able to handle up to 2,400 simultaneous lines per PC/NT box, with on-going continuous development.

Chelston.... are committed to providing our current and prospective customers with reliable, cost-effective and flexible CTI solutions that exceed their expectations.
